Active Methodologies in Education
CLASSROOM INVERTED or flipped classroom: it is an inversion of the traditional model, in which the content is taught and at home, the student tries to solve the exercises and identify their doubts. To do this, the teacher introduces the content and tells students to research the subject at home. In a third moment, students take the content learned to the classroom just to clarify doubts.
HYBRID EDUCATION: it is the traditional education (on-site) with distance education (EAD). Through the use of technologies, it allows the student to search for more information online, complementing what was said in the classroom.
GAMIFICATION: The goal is to bring the gaming experience into education. The main point of this methodology is to make the students enter a healthy competition, stimulating the ?outside the box? thinking, the motivation and dedication of the students.
DESIGN THINKING: The proposal is that students reflect, be creative and investigate to find solutions to problems and challenges. This methodology is divided into five steps: discovery, interpretation, ideation, experimentation and evolution.
PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING: The purpose is to use complex real-world problems to encourage learning through interdisciplinary. This methodology is focused on the theoretical part of solving cases and the construction of knowledge is based on generating debates that aim at developing skills such as: problem solving, communication and critical thinking.
LEARNING BETWEEN PEERS or Peer Instruction: it consists in the formation of teams so that learning can be built together, based on the sharing of ideas. This exchange of knowledge among students, whether in pairs or groups, changes the hierarchical teaching format.
PROJECT-BASED LEARNING (PBL): Also known as project-based learning, it has the purpose of having students solve challenges in a collaborative way. So, the student needs to explore possible solutions within a specific context. This encourages an investigative and critical profile in challenging situations. The teacher has the role of monitoring the entire process and, at the end, presenting the feedbacks.
Let`s think about them carefully. Which one do you think that works better?
